Traffic Count Baseline Study Report

The "Traffic Count Baseline Study Report" for Nimba and Lofa Counties presents pre-track completion traffic patterns. Data was collected in August 2022. The report details the methodology, enumerator training, and data on travel numbers, transport means, and load descriptions, establishing a baseline for future impact assessment of track or Village Access Roads upgrades.

Summary:

The report "Traffic Count Baseline Study Report for Nimba & Lofa Counties" details the methodology and findings of baseline traffic counts conducted in August 2022. The study aimed to establish pre-track or Village Access Roads construction movement patterns of people and goods along selected footpaths in Nimba (Gbehlay Geh and Boe Quilla & Kparblee) and Lofa (Zolowo-Borkeza and Voinjama) counties. The traffic counts, supervised by LIDA-R's lead researcher Martin N. Tarkpor Sr, were conducted by trained enumerators on both regular and market days from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Three footpaths per cluster were selected based on their Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) scores: the highest scoring footpath, the lowest scoring footpath still qualifying for a track upgrade, and the highest scoring footpath not qualifying for upgrading. This selection ensured a varied and representative sample. The report presents detailed traffic data, disaggregated by means of transport, changes in transport, and load descriptions. These findings provide a comprehensive baseline for evaluating the impact of future track upgrades on local transportation patterns and socio-economic conditions.
